*BOOK PIECE* Vintage Grieger's Black Glass & Gold Traditional CAMEO Brooch Pin!

Featured on page 120 of (my personal favorite) Julia C. Carroll's book
Costume Jewelry 303,
is this beauriful cameo brooch! Made by a crafter through mail order, this brooch features a gold painted cameo on black glass. The rim of the black glass is only painted in gold paint.
This was featured in Greiger's Traditional Cameo series, which was sold via their catalogue in the early 1970's.
This particular glass cameo is pasted into a beautifully ornate, gold tone mounting.

Costume jewelry hoarder by night
I grew up watching my grandmother and mother collect beautiful pieces of vintage costume jewelry. I loved to talk about CJ; I loved to hold CJ in my hands; and I loved the smell of CJ.  After I inherited many pieces from my grandmother, I became more interested in collecting and dealing myself. Now that I have young girls, I have found an activity we can do together: going to sales, rummaging through boxes, cleaning, appraising... it has continued as a family tradition with the next generation.
